U Libecciu, Campground in Olmeto, France
U Libecciu is a hillside campground spanning six hectares in Olmeto in Southern Corsica. The site spreads across oak and olive trees overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and mountain ridges, with bungalows for four to seven people and tent spaces.
This family business was founded in 1988 between Propriano and Porto Pollo in the Gulf of Valinco. Since its opening, the site has served as a lodging base for visitors exploring South Corsica's shoreline.
The name 'U Libecciu' comes from a traditional Corsican wind, reflecting the place's connection to island geography. Visitors notice how accommodations are scattered among trees, weaving nature and lodging together.
The campground opens from April through September and offers a pool and on-site restaurant. Visitors should note that the beach is only 300 meters away and pathways across the grounds are easy to navigate.
The name references the 'Libecciu', a strong southwesterly wind that regularly sweeps across the island and shapes the climate. This wind not only shapes the landscape but also influences visitors' experience during their stay.
