AQUAtherm Freibad
AQUAtherm Freibad is a water facility in Straubing with indoor and outdoor sections open year-round. The indoor area includes a 25-meter swimming pool with six lanes, a warm-water relaxation pool with massage jets, and a sauna section, while the outdoor area features a 50-meter lap pool, diving platforms, and slides including a 100-meter family slide tower.
AQUAtherm draws water from a recognized health spring called Sorviodurum, a source that established the region's bathing tradition. The facility underwent renovation of its indoor sections in recent times, updating its infrastructure while the outdoor areas maintain a long tradition of summer leisure.
The name AQUAtherm reflects the naturally warm mineral water that feeds the facility, a source that has shaped how locals and visitors experience relaxation here. This water source has made it a gathering place where people from all ages come to move in water and unwind together.
The facility is accessible year-round with changing areas, elevators, and special facilities for people with limited mobility. Visitors should plan to arrive early, especially on weekends and holidays, as the park becomes crowded during peak times.
The water comes from the historic Sorviodurum spring, a thermal source that naturally warms and enriches the water with minerals. This naturally heated pool experience sets it apart from ordinary swimming facilities and gives visitors the feeling of bathing in a true thermal spa.
