Frauenbrünnlstraße 117, Straubing-Frauenbründl

The church at Frauenbrünnlstraße 117 is a pilgrimage shrine in Straubing featuring a cloverleaf-shaped foundation and an octagonal dome. The structure shows double-shell construction with three conch spaces and pilaster-segmented walls throughout.

Construction took place between 1705 and 1707, replacing an earlier timber-framed chapel that previously stood on this site. The ceiling frescoes were created by artist G. Asam and have defined the interior since completion.

The ceiling paintings show biblical figures and saints representing the Litany of Loreto through religious imagery, which pilgrims have viewed for centuries during their visits.

The shrine is accessible to visitors during daylight hours in the summer months, with guided tours available to learn about the architecture and history. Allow time to view both the exterior form and the decorated interior at a comfortable pace.

Inside stands an organ from 1730 with five registers on one manual, enriching the church space with its sound during services. This instrument remains functional today and contributes to the complete experience of the Baroque interior.
