Donaubad is a water park and sauna complex in Neu-Ulm that combines an adventure pool area with a dedicated wellness section. The pool area has water slides, a wave pool, and lap lanes, while the sauna section offers several rooms at different temperatures.
Donaubad opened in 1999 as the first large leisure pool of its kind in the Neu-Ulm area. Over the years, the complex was extended to add more sauna capacity and update the pool facilities.
The sauna section follows a German tradition where an attendant waves scented steam through the room in a ritual called an Aufguss. These sessions happen at set times and draw regulars who treat the experience as part of their weekly routine.
The complex is open year-round, but weekends and school holidays tend to draw larger crowds than weekday mornings. Arriving early on a weekday gives you more space in both the pool area and the sauna section.
The complex sits right on the bank of the Danube, so some of the outdoor sections offer a direct view of the river. This location makes outdoor swimming here feel noticeably different from a typical indoor pool visit.
