BFI Riverfront
The BFI Riverfront is a restaurant and meeting place along the Thames in Lambeth with two bar areas - a small bar near the cinema box office and a larger bar right by the river with an outdoor terrace. The venue serves stone-baked pizzas, salads, fish and meat dishes, plus coffee and drinks with views of Waterloo Bridge and passing boats.
This location was once part of the industrial riverside area that defined Thames shipping and freight. It was later transformed as part of South Bank's renewal into a public space where people can gather and enjoy the river.
The BFI Riverfront reflects the modern transformation of South Bank, where an industrial area has become a gathering place for locals and visitors to meet and enjoy the river. The outdoor terrace beneath Waterloo Bridge shows how the space brings people together, whether they are pausing before a film or simply watching the water.
The terrace is partially covered, allowing you to enjoy the view even if the weather is not ideal. The location is easily reached on foot from South Bank or by public transport from Waterloo Station, and includes family-friendly facilities such as disabled access and baby changing areas.
A second-hand book market sometimes sets up in front of the venue, giving visitors a chance to browse while relaxing. During the holiday season, the restaurant offers special festive menus such as turkey burgers with cranberry, making it a memorable spot for seasonal celebrations.
