Alderdieder parkea - Jardines de Alderdi Eder, Public garden in central San Sebastian, Spain
Jardines de Alderdi Eder is a rectangular green space in central Donostia between the town hall and La Concha Bay. The park is laid out with geometric beds, fountains, palms, and several sculptures, and sits directly beside the Paseo de la Concha.
The site opened in 1880 on former military training grounds and initially hosted circus and velodrome events. Over time the character shifted to a quiet urban garden, replanted during the remodeling of the waterfront promenade.
Visitors come here to rest on benches and look toward the town hall and the bay. Families use the space on summer afternoons, when the shade from palms and tamarisks brings relief.
The park is open around the clock and accessible from several sides, including for strollers and wheelchairs. A playground sits on the western side, and paths are wide enough for a relaxed walk along the beds.
An old carousel still turns among the trees, recalling earlier decades when entertainment was a daily feature here. At the edge stands a tiled pond with lion figures, and in its center a female fountain figure pours water into the basin.
