Rozhledna Dalibor, Observation tower in Zaječí, Czech Republic
Rozhledna Dalibor is an observation tower on Kalvárie Hill in Zaječí that rises 11 meters (36 ft) above ground level at an elevation of 262 meters (860 ft). The brick structure contains a steel staircase with 30 steps leading to a viewing platform at 8 meters (26 ft) high.
The brick tower was inaugurated in May 2012, built just after a chapel on the same hill completed in 2007. Its construction was funded by the owners of U Kapličky Winery, a family enterprise rooted in the region's wine-making tradition.
The tower shares the hilltop with a chapel built in 2007, creating a small sacred space where locals and visitors gather to take in the surroundings. From this spot, you can see the vineyards and protected landscape that have shaped the region for centuries.
The tower is free to enter and open year-round, with parking available and benches at the base for visitors to rest. Marked yellow hiking trails connect it to other viewpoints in the area, making it easy to explore the surrounding landscape on foot.
Unlike many modern towers in the region, this one received no European Union funding, remaining entirely a private initiative by a local winery family. This independent project demonstrates how small family businesses can enhance visitor opportunities without relying on large grants.
