Kho Khao Beach

Kho Khao Beach is a long sandy shore along the island of the same name in Phang Nga Province, bordered by coconut palms and facing the Andaman Sea. The coastline curves gently, offering shallow waters near the shore and deeper areas further out.

During the Ayutthaya period, the island served as a key trading hub along maritime routes connecting India, Arabia, and the Malay Peninsula. This role in regional commerce shaped the settlement patterns that continue today.

Local fishing communities have shaped the rhythm of the beach for generations, with boats launching at dawn and catches being taken directly to nearby markets.

The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April, when weather is stable and seas remain calm. During rainy periods, ferry connections may be affected, so checking conditions beforehand is wise.

At low tide, natural salt formations appear on the beach, creating shallow pools where small fish and crustaceans gather. These temporary pools reveal marine life that normally remains hidden beneath the water's surface.
