Musée Vignacourt 14-18, History museum in Vignacourt, France

Musée Vignacourt 14-18 is a history museum housed in a restored farmhouse that displays an extensive collection of World War I photographs. The images were captured by Louis and Antoinette Thuillier using early glass plate camera technology and show soldiers and civilians from the wartime period.

The Thuillier family turned their farm into an improvised photography studio between 1916 and 1918, documenting over 4,000 people from that period. This work unfolded amid the war and captured everyday and military scenes.

The garden holds portraits honoring Chinese workers who labored in the region during the war. These artworks mark a part of wartime society that people often forget.

Plan your visit during the warmer months when the museum maintains regular hours. It helps to check opening times in advance, as they change depending on the season.

The entire photograph collection lay undiscovered in the farm's attic for nearly 100 years before its historical value was recognized. This late discovery transformed personal records into an important archive for future generations.
