Circus Krone, German circus
Circus Krone is a permanent venue located in Maxvorstadt, Munich, with a large domed structure made of red brick and an entrance that recalls historic theatre architecture. The arena inside is arranged in a circular layout, with rows of seating that rise steeply toward the roof and a ring in the center where performers, animals and clowns present their acts.
Carl Krone founded his animal show in 1905 and traveled through several countries before bringing the company permanently to Munich in 1919. The current building was constructed during the 1960s after the original structure was destroyed during World War II.
The name comes from Carl Krone, who traveled across Europe with exotic animals before settling his company permanently in Munich. Families from around the city visit to see acts featuring animals, jugglers and clowns that have remained part of the program for generations.
Most performances take place in the evening, while additional afternoon shows for families are offered on weekends. During winter, the touring program pauses and all shows run in the permanent building in Munich.
In addition to the permanent building, the company also operates its own touring tent that travels across Germany and neighboring countries. This mobile tent has a different layout and is used only outside Munich to bring performances to smaller towns.
