송정해수욕장, Beach in Songjeong-dong, Busan, South Korea
Songjeonghaesu욕장 is a beach in the Songjeong-dong neighborhood of Busan, South Korea, with a long stretch of sand and shallow water. The seabed slopes gently, and at one end of the sand sits the small, wooded islet of Jukdo.
The beach opened in 1965, making it one of the oldest officially recognized beaches in the Busan area. Since then, it has been managed by the Haeundae district office, which oversees the season and on-site facilities.
Songjeonghaesu욕장 is known among surfers for its gentle, consistent waves that are easy to ride even for beginners. Several surf shops have gathered around the beach, offering lessons and rentals throughout the year.
The beach is open year-round, though the official swimming season runs from June through August. Visitors who want to surf or walk the shore can come outside that window, when it tends to be less crowded.
In winter and spring, little egrets fly to the Songjeong stream, which meets the sea at the edge of the beach. The mix of a small river, open sand and wading birds makes this corner of the beach easy to overlook but worth a stop.
