Oprna FKK, Nude beach in Primorsko-goranska županija, Croatia
Oprna FKK is a shingle beach on the Adriatic coast in Primorsko-goranska County, Croatia, set inside a curved bay with smooth pebbles along the shoreline. The beach has no road access and can only be reached on foot, which keeps it away from large crowds.
In the 1960s, naturist practices spread along the Croatian coast, and this bay became one of the spots where that tradition took hold. Over the following decades it drew a loyal following, mostly from Central Europe, and the place kept its naturist identity to this day.
FKK stands for Freikörperkultur, a movement that started in German-speaking countries and took root along the Adriatic coast. Visitors here tend to be relaxed and respectful, and the clothing-optional setting is treated as perfectly ordinary by everyone present.
The walk to the beach follows a rocky path, so sturdy shoes are a good idea for getting there and back. Once on the shore, water shoes help when moving over the pebbles, since the stones can be hard on bare feet.
The rock formations along the edges of the bay form small natural pockets that give visitors a sense of being on their own stretch of shore. This makes Oprna FKK one of the rare open beaches where you can feel genuinely out of sight without going to a remote island.
