Ghjunchitu, Beach in Corbara, France
Ghjunchitu is a 500-meter beach of fine white sand on Corsica's Mediterranean coast, bordered by dense maquis vegetation and transparent waters. Rocky outcrops define the southern end of the shoreline.
The area evolved from a traditional fishing settlement into a swimming destination while maintaining ties to Corsican maritime heritage. This transformation happened gradually as recreational use grew alongside fishing activities.
The southern rocks host local fishermen at dawn, where traditional Mediterranean fishing methods have been passed down through generations of families living nearby.
Access to the beach is via the D513 road toward Calvi, with parking areas located within 600 meters of the water's edge. The main pathway becomes easier to navigate during summer months when signage is most visible.
The beach retains its natural character thanks to the undisturbed surroundings, and a small tavern near the rocks provides sunbed rentals for visitors. This blend of wildness with modest services creates a particular appeal.
