Plage Lac de la Cisba

Plage Lac de la Cisba is a sandy beach along a freshwater lake in the Aveyron region, surrounded by rolling natural landscapes. The shore provides direct water access with grassy areas and tree cover forming the backdrop.

The lake was created from a former bituminous shale quarry that the local community council transformed into a recreational space. This industrial site became a place for swimming and leisure activities.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors come together for summer activities and seasonal celebrations. It represents an important part of how the community spends warm months.

Supervised swimming areas are available from July through August, with restroom facilities and parking provided on site. A snack bar is also available, making a visit straightforward and comfortable.

The location sits near the birthplace of philosopher Guillaume-Thomas Raynal and sits at about 800 meters elevation. This makes it an unusual swimming spot high up in central France.
