Plage des Sableaux

Plage des Sableaux is a sandy beach on Noirmoutier Island with fine sand and waters suitable for swimming during summer months. The shoreline is bordered by natural rock outcrops and can be easily accessed from Rue des Sableaux.

The beach developed in the 19th century as the island became an important destination for fishing communities and maritime activity. The natural coastline has remained largely unchanged despite changes to the surrounding settlement over time.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors share the water and shoreline throughout the day. Around the promenade and nearby streets, people naturally congregate at cafes and shops, especially during the warmer months.

The beach has lifeguard supervision during July and August and offers areas for different water activities. Visitors should know that access is via a footpath from Rue des Sableaux and that conditions vary depending on tidal conditions.

During winter months, wild mimosa flowers bloom near the beach and create a yellow contrast against the gray coastal landscape. This seasonal display surprises many visitors who typically come only in summer.
