Phare de la Pointe des Dames

Phare de la Pointe des Dames is a white square tower standing in the Bois de la Chaise area with a residential building attached to its base. The structure rises prominently above the coastal landscape and serves as an important sea marker for vessels navigating the waters nearby.

The lighthouse was built in 1867 with a fixed light system displaying white and red sectors from its beacon. It received its distinctive white coating in 1910 and was automated through remote control in 2002, replacing the need for on-site management.

The lighthouse and its annexes received official recognition as a French historical monument on November 29, 2011, marking its architectural significance.

The location is easy to reach and can be explored during a walk along the coastal area. Visitors should plan to come when visibility is good to fully appreciate the structure and enjoy the surrounding environment.

Despite being automated two decades ago, this lighthouse still maintains its original keeper's house and connected residential structures. The site remains inhabited, showing an unusual blend of modern operating systems with preserved residential architecture from the past.
