Blue Beach, Shingle beach in Nice, France
Blue Beach is a shingle beach in Nice, located on the Promenade des Anglais across from the West-End hotel. It has a private restaurant section alongside public areas where visitors can rent deck chairs and umbrellas.
The Promenade des Anglais, where Blue Beach sits, was built in the 19th century at the initiative of the English community that wintered in Nice. Private beaches along this stretch of coast developed gradually over the following decades.
The restaurant terrace at Blue Beach sits right on the water across from the West-End hotel, and locals and visitors alike use it as a place to share a meal while watching the sea. The stone shore gives the spot a feel typical of the Côte d'Azur, where pebble beaches are the norm rather than the exception.
The beach is within walking distance of central Nice and easy to reach on foot from the old town, which makes parking less of a concern. That said, spots nearby can fill up fast in summer, so arriving early or using public transit is a good idea.
Blue Beach is accessible to visitors using self-propelled wheelchairs, which is not common along this part of the coast. The beach also stays open year-round, so it draws a small but regular crowd even in the middle of winter.
