Porto Contessa

Porto Contessa is a sandy shore along the Adriatic coast with fine white sand and clear water that gradually deepens as you move away from the bank. The bottom transitions smoothly from shallow areas near the waterline to deeper sections offshore.

The shore has been part of the Mediterranean coastal landscape of Puglia since ancient times and maintained its natural character over centuries. This long stability shaped the environment visitors see today.

Fishermen from the area have used this shore for generations to launch boats and supply fresh catch to nearby restaurants. Their daily work remains visible and shapes how locals and visitors experience the place.

Access is free year-round and lifeguards operate with equipment rentals available from June through September during peak summer. Outside this period, the beach offers fewer services but remains open for swimming.

The coastline here forms natural wind barriers that make swimming comfortable even on breezy days. This geological feature sets it apart from neighboring beaches in the area.
