Marina Maria

Marina Maria is a sand beach in Murta Maria that stretches for several hundred meters along the coastline and is framed by granite rocks and Mediterranean plants. The shallow water allows easy access, while the rocky surroundings give the beach a natural appearance.

The area served as a natural shelter for fishing communities starting in the 1800s and helped Murta Maria grow and develop. This maritime tradition has shaped the village to this day, and fishing remains a key activity along these shores.

The village of Murta Maria grew up around fishing, and the beaches reflect this deep connection to the sea. Local waterfront restaurants serve fish and seafood caught by fishermen working from these shores.

The water is shallow and warm, especially in the summer months, and the area has parking spaces plus rental options for umbrellas and lounge chairs. Swimming is best from June through September, when restroom facilities are also available.

Marine research has revealed that red coral colonies thrive in the deeper waters offshore from this beach. These delicate organisms matter for the health of the sea ecosystem and make the location interesting for nature lovers and snorkelers.
