IJburg Beach

IJburg Beach is a sandy shore along the eastern edge of IJburg island, designed for swimming, games, and sunbathing. The space includes different zones with various activities, from quiet spots to volleyball and beach areas, plus views of the IJmeer water.

The beach was created in the early 2000s as part of Amsterdam's large-scale urban development on artificial islands in the IJmeer. This expansion allowed the city to build new residential areas and recreation spaces for a growing population.

The beach serves as a gathering place where neighbors spend time together over drinks and food. You will notice families grilling, groups of friends relaxing, and people enjoying the water's edge throughout the week.
