Starganiec, Sand beach in Mikołów, Poland
The Starganiec reservoir features two distinct water bodies with sandy shores, wooden piers, and recreational areas within the Panewnickie Forest boundaries.
The water reservoir emerged in the mid-19th century from a former sand extraction site, later becoming a recreation center for Baildon Steelworks employees.
The renovation project in 2023 transformed Starganiec into a modern recreational facility with swimming areas, volleyball courts, and designated picnic spots.
Two parking lots provide access via Owsiana Street, while bus lines 29, 45, 653, 937, and 657 connect the beach to surrounding cities.
The smaller pond contains treated water with a specialized bottom mat, while the larger 3.5-hectare reservoir maintains its natural characteristics.
