Praia do Matadouro

The beach stretches along the Atlantic coast with a medium-sized sandy area bordered by rocks on both northern and southern ends of the shore.

The beach obtained its name from an old slaughterhouse that operated near the coast during the early development of Ericeira's fishing industry.

Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices at Praia do Matadouro, using small boats and manual techniques passed down through generations.

Visitors can access the beach through marked pathways from Estrada Nacional 2472, with parking spaces available near the entrance throughout the year.

During low tide, the Ribeira da Fonte Boa creates a natural swimming pool between the rock formations, offering protected areas for water activities.
