Praia da Calheta

Praia da Calheta is a sandy shore along Madeira's western coast featuring soft golden sand and two protective breakwaters that create a sheltered swimming zone. The wide beach sits nestled within a bay that provides natural protection from stronger waves.

This beach was created in 2004 as part of a major coastal development project that brought sand from North African sources. The construction marked an important step in expanding Madeira's recreational facilities along its shoreline.
