Praia da Calheta

The beach extends for 100 meters along the western coast of Madeira, featuring soft golden sand and two protective breakwaters creating a sheltered swimming area.

Established in 2004, this artificial beach marked a significant development in Madeira's coastal infrastructure through the importation of sand from North African regions.

The beach forms a central meeting point where residents and visitors gather throughout the year to enjoy traditional Portuguese coastal activities and local food.

The facility includes changing rooms, first-aid services, sun loungers, parasols, and a restaurant serving regional specialties within walking distance of the marina.

The protected bay configuration allows for year-round swimming conditions, making it one of the few locations in Madeira suitable for continuous water activities.
