The beach development occurred alongside the growth of Ribeira Brava town, which received its official town status on May 26, 1928.

The beach complex includes wooden walkways, changing rooms, showers, parasol rentals, a restaurant, and outdoor parking facilities.
A constructed bay at the beach creates protected swimming conditions, while the surrounding mountains form a natural amphitheater around the shoreline.
