Playa de Viquiella is a small beach on the shore of Lago de Sanabria, in the municipality of Galende, in the Spanish province of Zamora. The shoreline is gentle and sandy, bordered by trees and rocky slopes that come down to the water's edge.
The area around Lago de Sanabria has long been used by local people for fishing and small boat trips. The beach at Viquiella gained wider use when the surrounding territory was designated a natural park, drawing visitors from across the region.
Playa de Viquiella sits on the shore of Lago de Sanabria, the largest glacial lake on the Iberian Peninsula. On warm summer days, families gather here to sit by the water, picnic under the trees, and enjoy the slow rhythm of the day.
The beach is easy to reach from Galende, with parking nearby and a short, flat walk to the shore. There are very few facilities on site, so it is a good idea to bring food and water, especially during summer when it gets busy early in the day.
Playa de Viquiella has been adapted with ramps and special seating to allow people with reduced mobility to enter the water. This makes it one of the few lake beaches in the region designed with full access in mind.
