Playazo de Villaricos

Playazo de Villaricos is a sand beach in Cuevas del Almanzora with fine, light-colored sand and access to Mediterranean waters. The shoreline stretches for several hundred meters, offering shallow waters and views toward the village and nearby castle.

This coastal area played an important role in mining history as a silver-producing region, with remnants of the old mint La Fabrica del Duro still visible along the shore. The mining industry shaped the area for centuries before declining.

Local fishermen continue their traditional practices at the beach, reflecting the maritime heritage of this Mediterranean coastal community through generations.

Walkways provide access to the beach, though they do not reach directly to the water's edge. For information about tides, weather conditions, or local facilities, it is best to ask at the tourist office before visiting.

Submerged beneath the water are remnants of an old iron loading dock from the mining era, which attracts divers and snorkelers. These underwater structures offer a tangible connection to the industrial past that few visitors expect to find.
