Shell Point Beach, Sand beach in Wakulla County, United States.
Shell Point Beach is a sandy shoreline along Apalachee Bay with wide-open sand and scattered shells across the surface. The water stays shallow for a good distance, making it easy to wade and explore the shallow areas.
The beach once had a motel, restaurant, and marina that brought many visitors in earlier times. Today it is managed by the county parks department as a public beach.
The beach hosts the Stephen C. Smith Memorial Regatta during the last weekend of April, a sailing competition that draws participants and spectators from across the Southeast. This event shapes community life and shows how important water activities are to people here.
The beach has restrooms, showers, a playground, and parking available from early morning until midnight. There is a kayak launch area for those interested in paddling and a volleyball court for visitors who want to be more active.
Local windsurfers hold a wind ceremony at the start of spring to celebrate natural elements and anticipate good weather for the season ahead. This tradition shows how connected people feel to the water and wind conditions at this location.
