Tuquillo, playa peruana
Tuquillo is a beach on the Pacific coast with fine sand and turquoise water surrounded by orange rocks and small islands. The shoreline extends along a protected bay where the seafloor slopes gently, making it suitable for swimming and wading.
The beach received recognition in 2009 from Ecoplayas Peru for its conservation status and water quality. This award highlighted its importance as a protected coastal zone.
The location is easily reached via the Panamericana Norte highway and offers restaurants and lodging during the summer months from January to March. Visitors should note that the warmest months offer the best conditions for swimming and exploring.
Several small islands offshore serve as nesting grounds for guano birds including Peruvian boobies. These island groups support an important ecosystem for seabirds.
