Rossini Center, Shopping mall in Pesaro, Italy
Rossini Center is a shopping mall in Pesaro, in the Marche region, with several floors hosting a wide range of shops, including a large hypermarket. The retail spaces are organized around a covered gallery with stores selling clothing, electronics, food and services.
The center opened around the year 2000 and was one of the first large shopping facilities in the Pesaro-Urbino province. Its arrival changed the way people in the area did their everyday shopping, bringing together in one place what had previously been spread across the city.
The center takes its name from Gioachino Rossini, the composer born in Pesaro, giving the building a local identity that visitors can notice right away. On weekends, it works as a meeting point for families from the city and the surrounding area.
The mall sits on the outskirts of Pesaro and is easiest to reach by car, as a large parking area, partly covered, is right next to the building. Visiting on a weekday tends to be quieter than on weekends, when the center fills up noticeably.
The gallery inside follows a circular layout, which means visitors can walk through all the shops without retracing their steps. This kind of floor plan was not common for shopping centers in the area when the building was first designed.
