Sant'Agostino, Pesaro

Sant'Agostino is a Gothic church in Pesaro featuring a portal made of Istrian stone and red marble dating from the late 14th century. Inside, a functioning organ built by Gaetano Callido stands as evidence of the church's careful restoration and maintenance.

This church was originally built in 1258 in Romanesque style. During the second half of the 14th century, it received its distinctive Gothic features under the patronage of the Malatesta family.

The wooden choir displays 32 panels showing buildings that were restored by the Sforza family across the region. These carved scenes tell stories of the construction projects that shaped the territory.

The church sits on Corso XI Settembre in Pesaro's historic center. Visiting in the early morning helps you experience the space with fewer crowds and better natural light.

The church holds oval portraits of Augustinian saints painted by Pietro Tedeschi that reflect local artistic traditions. Inside you also find paintings by Carlo Magini depicting religious figures associated with the order.
