Pertes de l'Ain, Natural waterfall in Bourg-de-Sirod, France.

The Ain River plunges through a narrow gorge measuring two meters wide and one hundred meters long, creating waterfalls and whirlpools.

During the 16th century, the waterfall's hydraulic power supplied local forges before their replacement by a hydroelectric plant in 1898.

The site demonstrates local industrial adaptation with its former forges and hydroelectric plants harnessing water power for energy production.

Marked trails of 2 and 3.2 kilometers allow visitors to observe the river from the Les Chamois restaurant parking area.

The river disappears into an underground network carved in limestone ten million years ago, creating distinct geological formations.
