El Tular Santuario Natural, Nature reserve in San José Pinula, Guatemala.
El Tular spans 60 hectares of forest and wetlands at an altitude of 1,800 meters, providing habitats for numerous plant and animal species.
The reserve was established as a conservation project 30 kilometers from Guatemala City to protect local ecosystems and promote environmental education.
The reserve incorporates traditional Maya steam baths and local agricultural practices into its environmental education programs and visitor experiences.
Visitors need advance reservations to access the site, which opens Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 8:00 to 16:00.
The reserve features giant swings, zip lines, natural pools, and an orchid garden while operating entirely on solar power and sustainable practices.
