Julius Breckling Riverfront Park, Urban park in Little Rock, United States.
Julius Breckling Riverfront Park is an urban park along the Arkansas River in Little Rock, featuring walking paths, terraces, plazas, and landscaped gardens throughout the grounds. The park extends across roughly 40 acres and connects the river with varied areas for strolling and gathering.
The park concept originated in 1913 when landscape architect John Nolen proposed it, but actual development did not begin until the 1980s. A million-dollar grant finally allowed the long-envisioned project to become reality.
The Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden displays over a hundred artworks arranged in outdoor spaces formed by curved steel plates. The collection shapes how people move through and experience the place.
The park grounds are accessible daily with different areas to explore, and pavilions available for rent if you plan an event. The numerous paths and plazas let you choose different routes depending on your interests and energy level.
Five illuminated bridges cross the park, creating colored light patterns that reflect on the Arkansas River as darkness falls. This evening lighting transforms the park into a different setting than what visitors experience during daytime.
