Le Gros Vélo, Group cycling attraction in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, France
Le Gros Vélo is a large shared bicycle that carries up to 14 riders at once on a relaxed route through the countryside. The pedal-powered vehicle travels along a circuit of around 2 kilometers, allowing participants to move together at a steady pace.
The group cycling concept arrived in the Loire-Atlantique region through a sports entrepreneur who adapted a Dutch-style pedal vehicle model. The project developed as a way to combine physical activity with a shared leisure experience.
The cycling experience promotes group interaction and physical activity while allowing participants to explore the natural landscapes along the Loire River banks.
It is best to reserve in advance to guarantee a spot on the ride. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as all passengers contribute to pedaling the vehicle.
Only around 10 of the 14 seats require active pedaling, while the remaining passengers simply ride along. This design makes the experience welcoming to people of varying fitness levels.
