Eyrolles Bookstore, Bookshop in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, France
Librairie Eyrolles is an independent bookshop on Boulevard Saint-Germain in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, spread across two floors connected by an underground passage between numbers 55 and 61. The shelves reach from floor to ceiling and cover a broad range of subjects, from computing and design to languages, science, and business.
The shop grew out of the Eyrolles publishing house, which built its reputation around technical and scientific books. Over the decades it expanded its range well beyond its original focus, becoming one of the largest independent bookshops in France.
Librairie Eyrolles draws students and working professionals looking for books on computing, design, and business, giving the shop a focused, working energy. The shelves include a solid selection of English-language titles, which makes it accessible to visitors who do not read French.
The shop sits on Boulevard Saint-Germain, within easy walking distance of the Maubert-Mutualité and Cluny-Sorbonne metro stations. It opens Monday through Saturday, and mornings tend to be quieter if you want to browse without much of a crowd.
Since 2004, the bookshop has run its own online store at Eyrolles.com, with a separate stock and logistics operation that works completely independently from the physical shop. This means a book available on the website is not necessarily sitting on a shelf inside the store.
