Familienpark Senftenberger See
Familienpark Senftenberger See is a campground on the shore of a lake near Großkoschen, surrounded by pine forest. It offers comfort pitches with water, electricity and sewer connections, woodland spots under trees, sanitary facilities, playgrounds, a restaurant, and boat and bicycle rentals.
The campground stands on land that was once used for mining and later as an open pit mine. After mining activities ended, the area was flooded to create the lake that now serves as a recreation area.
The park takes its name from the nearby lake and represents the area's transformation from mining to family recreation. Visitors experience how this former industrial region has become a place where people gather for leisure and outdoor time together.
The site is open year-round and features wide, level paths that are easy to navigate with strollers. Book early, especially during summer months, as spots are in high demand and fill quickly.
The site was once one of Europe's largest open pit mining areas and was deliberately transformed into a recreation zone with water landscapes after mining ceased. This conversion shows how a damaged landscape can be restored into a relaxing destination.
