Senftenberger See, Artificial lake in Senftenberg, Germany
The Senftenberger See spans 1,300 hectares with 18 kilometers of shoreline, including 7 kilometers of sandy beaches along its perimeter.
The lake emerged from a former lignite mine site, transformed through flooding operations between 1967 and 1972 using water from the Black Elster river.
Three designated naturist beaches on the northern shore and near Großkoschen maintain German traditions of outdoor lifestyle and nature appreciation.
The marina, completed in 2013, provides 100 boat moorings and an 80-meter floating pier for water activities and vessel docking.
The lake's maximum depth has changed from its initial 40 meters to currently not exceeding 25 meters due to natural sedimentation processes.
