Homestead-Miami Speedway is a motorsport racing track in Homestead, Florida, spread across a 243-hectare site. The main oval course measures 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) with banked turns between 18 and 20 degrees, while an additional 3.6-kilometer (2.21-mile) road course allows for different racing formats.
History
Construction of the facility began in August 1993 as part of Homestead's recovery from Hurricane Andrew, which had severely damaged the region the previous year. The first race took place in November 1995 and marked the beginning of a new era for the local community and American motorsport.
Culture
The racing venue traditionally closes the NASCAR Cup season with the Championship finale, when fans from across the country arrive to watch the title decision. On race days the grounds transform into a lively paddock area with merchandise stands, autograph sessions and grilling zones where motorsport enthusiasts gather and exchange stories.
Practical
Visitors find grandstand seating for 43,000 spectators and several hospitality suites overlooking the track. The grounds also offer specialized racing experiences where participants can drive actual race cars on the course.
