Praia Fluvial de Loriga, River beach in Loriga, Portugal.

This river beach features crystal-clear mountain waters flowing through natural pools carved by glacial activity, surrounded by steep rocky slopes and dense vegetation typical of the Serra da Estrela region.

Loriga developed as a mountain settlement centuries ago, with the glacial valley shaped by ancient ice movements that created the distinctive U-shaped formation visible today throughout the surrounding landscape.

The village celebrates traditional Portuguese mountain festivals throughout the year, featuring folk music, regional cuisine, and local crafts that reflect the cultural heritage of the Serra da Estrela communities.

The facility offers parking areas, restrooms, first-aid station, picnic zones, and lifeguard services during summer months from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM for visitor safety and convenience.

This location represents the only river beach in Portugal situated within a glacial valley, earning recognition as a finalist in the '7 Wonders - Beaches of Portugal' competition for river beaches.
