Terme di Saturnia, Public thermal baths in Manciano, Italy.

The Terme di Saturnia features natural sulfuric thermal waters at 37.5°C that flow continuously from underground springs, creating waterfalls and pools surrounded by rolling Tuscan countryside.

These thermal springs have been utilized since Etruscan and Roman times, with ancient civilizations recognizing the healing properties of the mineral-rich waters for therapeutic purposes.

The thermal site represents a millennia-old Italian tradition of balneotherapy, combining ancient wellness practices with modern spa facilities in the heart of Tuscany's Maremma region.

The thermal complex operates daily from 09:30 to 17:00 and offers outdoor thermal pools, spa treatments, sauna facilities, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Ronald Fream.

Friday evenings feature starlight bathing sessions until midnight, accompanied by ambient music to create a romantic thermal water experience under the Tuscan night sky.

Best natural swimming pools in Italy: wild bathing spots across the country

Italy offers many locations where one can swim in nature. From rock-carved basins to mountain lakes, hot springs, and secluded coves, the country is full of accessible water spots for those who enjoy swimming away from managed beaches. They can be found all over: in the Dolomite valleys, in the heart of Tuscany, on the coasts of Sardinia or Sicily. Some sites are accessible on foot after a short walk, others have been known to locals for a long time. The water can be icy or warm depending on the region, but it is always surrounded by scenic landscapes. These natural pools are often quiet places where people come to relax, have picnics, or simply enjoy the scenery. They reveal another aspect of Italy, one that is more straightforward and closer to nature.
