PA_1432 'XXL', Space Invader mosaic in Paris, France.
PA_1432 'XXL' is a large street art mosaic fixed to a wall near Place Stravinsky in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. It shows half of a pixel-like alien creature made of black, white, and red tiles, with two red rectangles suggesting eyes on the upper right of the design.
The work was put up on the wall in early December 2019 after the surface had been redone to support the tiles. It was the artist's largest mosaic in Paris at that time and followed an earlier piece placed at the top of the Eiffel Tower the month before.
The mosaic stands next to other large murals by Shepard Fairey and Jef Aérosol, turning this corner of the square into an open-air display of street art. Passersby often pause to photograph the alien figure and compare it with the nearby painted faces and words.
You can see it from the open square without entering any building, so take your time to stand back and look up at the whole wall. The area near Rue du Cloître Saint-Merri is easy to walk around, but the sidewalk can be busy, so pick a spot near the fountain or the edge of the square for a clear view.
Only half of the creature is shown, so your eye is left to complete the rest of the figure beyond the edge of the wall. A miniature version of this same design was later made as a numbered sculpture, giving fans a small copy of the huge public piece.
