Quiraing, Rocky summit on Isle of Skye, Scotland.
The Quiraing features spectacular rock formations created by a massive landslide, with steep cliffs, plateaus, and rocky pinnacles that rise dramatically above the surrounding landscape and offer panoramic views across the Highlands.
Formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity and erosion, the Quiraing resulted from one of the largest landslides in the United Kingdom that moved huge sections of the landscape and created today's terrain.
The plateau known as the 'Table' was historically used by local farmers to hide livestock from invaders centuries ago, taking advantage of its concealed location and difficult access among the rock formations.
Access is through a paid parking area at the top of a narrow single-track road costing 3 pounds for three hours, with a 6.5-kilometer hiking trail requiring sturdy footwear and careful navigation.
The changing weather conditions and shifting light constantly transform the landscape's appearance, offering different views throughout the day and creating opportunities for photographers to capture ever-changing scenes and dramatic lighting effects.
