Siguldas vagoniņš Krimulda, Aerial tramway in Sigulda, Latvia
The Siguldas vagoniņš Krimulda is a 1025-meter cable car system that crosses the Gauja River valley at 43 meters height, connecting two riverbanks while offering panoramic views of medieval castles and natural landscapes during a seven-minute journey.
This aerial tramway was constructed in 1969 as the first cable car system in the Baltic States, designed by Latvian specialists to provide convenient transportation across the Gauja River valley and promote Sigulda as a major tourism destination.
The cable car serves as an important cultural bridge connecting visitors to UNESCO World Heritage sites including Sigulda Castle, Turaidas Castle, and Krimulda Manor, while showcasing the natural beauty of the Gauja National Park from above.
Operating daily from 10:00 to 18:20 with departures every 20-30 minutes, the tramway accommodates 22 passengers per cabin and offers various ticket options including family packages and discounts for students and disabled visitors.
This cable car provides the only aerial perspective of the entire Gauja River valley system, allowing passengers to observe multiple medieval fortifications and the Olympic bobsled track simultaneously from a single vantage point.
