Hidden Glen

Hidden Glen is a narrow gorge in the Scottish Highlands within Glencoe, also known as Lost Valley. The valley is shaped by steep slopes covered with natural forest, moss-covered rocks, and a flowing stream that winds through the landscape.

The valley was historically used by the MacDonald clan as a hiding place to protect stolen cattle from being discovered. The steep rocky slopes provided natural defense for the clan during turbulent times in the Highlands.

The glen is known locally as Coire Gabhail, a name reflecting the Gaelic heritage of the Highlands. Today, visitors walk through the narrow gorge surrounded by moss-covered rocks and natural forest, experiencing the quiet feeling of a remote landscape far from everyday life.

The walk begins at the free Three Sisters Viewpoint car park and follows a forest gorge with several challenging sections including a metal ladder crossing and steep rocky steps. Wear sturdy shoes and waterproof clothing, and bring walking poles, especially since the path becomes slippery after rain and stream crossings can be deep and fast.

At the end of the trail stands a large boulder that requires climbing and is best managed with help from others in your group. The return route follows a completely different path, giving fresh views of the landscape as you walk among massive rocks and trees.
