Brandon Point, Scenic viewpoint on the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland

Brandon Point is a scenic viewpoint on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland, perched high above the Atlantic Ocean. The cliffs drop sharply to the water below, and the open view takes in the rocky coastline and the mountains that rise behind it.

The land around Brandon Point has been used for generations by local fishermen and sailors who watched the coast for ships and weather changes. The sea has always shaped the lives of those who lived nearby, and the cliffs have stood witness to that long connection.

Brandon Point, known in Irish as Srón Bhroin, sits on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. In autumn, birdwatchers gather here to spot seabirds riding the north-west winds, including skuas and shearwaters passing close to the cliffs.

Brandon Point is a short drive from the village of Cloghane and is easy to reach by car. Wear sturdy shoes for the uneven paths and bring warm layers, as the wind here can be strong at any time of year.

Pomarine skuas and grey phalaropes are regularly spotted here in autumn, even though the site has no facilities for birdwatchers at all. The raw cliff position, fully exposed to the wind, makes it one of the best places on the Dingle Peninsula to see open-ocean birds up close.
