Rampestreken, Scenic viewpoint in Rauma, Norway
Rampestreken is a scenic viewpoint above Åndalsnes in Norway, sitting around 537 meters above the Romsdalsfjord. A steel platform juts out from the rock face and hangs over a landscape of fjord, valley, and mountains.
The trail leading to the platform was built by combining natural terrain with stone steps and handrails, with some sections shaped by Nepalese Sherpas. This work reflects a long tradition of mountain exploration around Åndalsnes.
The climb takes about one and a half hours from Åndalsnes along the marked Romsdal Stairs trail, and sturdy shoes along with weather-ready clothing are important since mountain conditions can change fast. Visitors who prefer to skip the long ascent can take the Romsdalsgondolen cable car and walk down to the platform in about 15 minutes.
On busy days, a short queue can form at the platform itself since only a handful of people can stand on it at once. Arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon often means having the view to yourself.
