Lake Rejów
Lake Rejów is an artificial reservoir in Skarżysko-Kamienna covering about 30 hectares and surrounded by pine forests. The lake features a marked swimming beach with changing facilities, walking and cycling paths around the shoreline, and rental options for kayaks and pedal boats.
The water basin was created in the early 1800s to supply water to the nearby Rejów ironworks. After World War II it was rebuilt and served industrial plants before gradually transforming into a public recreation area for the community.
The name Rejów comes from the old ironworks that once operated here and shaped the town's identity. Today locals gather at the shore to relax and walk, showing how this place has shifted from industrial use to a space for leisure and community.
The lake is easily reached with free parking near the beach and buses stopping nearby. Visiting is possible year-round, though swimming season and activities like boat rental are mainly available from late June through early September.
Visitors can still spot remains of an old diving platform and pier from the time when the lake mainly attracted water sports enthusiasts. These remnants show that this body of water served as a training ground for athletes long before becoming today's swimming beach.
