Grand Mosque of Kuwait

This mosque covers forty-five thousand square meters and features a main prayer hall that accommodates ten thousand men under a dome measuring forty-three meters in height and twenty-six meters in diameter.

Construction began in nineteen seventy-nine and completed in nineteen eighty-six with an investment of fourteen million Kuwaiti dinars, opening during Eid ul-Fitr in fourteen zero seven AH.

The interior walls display Arabic calligraphy featuring the ninety-nine names of God and geometric patterns that follow traditional Islamic artistic principles avoiding figurative representations of living beings.

Guided tours operate Monday through Thursday and Sunday from four PM to seven thirty PM with free English and Arabic tours available at designated times without prior reservations.

The seventy-four meter tall minaret incorporates Andalusian architectural influences and provides panoramic views of Kuwait City while housing a three hundred fifty square meter Islamic library below.
