Moulin Cezanne au Tholonet, Historic windmill in Le Tholonet, France.
The Moulin Cezanne is a former grain mill built in stone with a conical wooden roof, standing approximately fifteen meters high along Chemin de Doudon in the village of Le Tholonet near Aix-en-Provence.
Originally constructed in the seventeenth century as a functional windmill for grinding grain, this structure served the local agricultural community until the mid-twentieth century before undergoing restoration and preservation as a heritage site.
The mill gained recognition through its association with painter Paul Cézanne, who rented the building to store his painting materials and frequently visited the area to capture the surrounding Provençal landscape in his works.
The site is accessible from Le Tholonet center via Chemin de Doudon and currently functions as a municipal exhibition space with occasional guided tours and cultural activities organized throughout the year.
Cézanne regularly stopped at this mill during his artistic excursions, often having lunch at the nearby Relais Cézanne before painting the surrounding fields and the imposing Mont Sainte-Victoire visible from the location.
