Via Ferrata Le Torrent de la Combe, Via ferrata in Puy-Saint-Vincent, France
This via ferrata follows the Combe torrent for 2,000 feet (600 meters) with an elevation gain of 525 feet (160 meters) reaching a maximum altitude of 5,185 feet (1,580 meters) in the Hautes-Alpes.
The site was developed in 2002 by Roc Aventure to provide a sporting route in a region shaped by ancient glacial activity visible through exposed rock formations and steep gorges.
This equipped climbing route represents the mountain sports tradition in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and draws families seeking to discover climbing in a natural outdoor environment with guidance and safety features.
The route is accessible from June to October from the parking lot on D804 located approximately 1,640 feet (500 meters) from the start and requires one and a half hours for the complete visit.
The course includes seven wooden footbridges crossing the torrent and an optional 40-foot (12-meter) vertical wall section within a shaded forest environment providing natural cooling during summer months.

Via ferrata routes in the Alps combine steel cables, metal rungs, and bridges into protected climbing paths through alpine rock faces. The routes extend through the Dolomites, French Alps, Austrian Ötztal, and Swiss mountain regions between 2,600 and 9,800 feet in elevation. Routes such as the Ivano Dibona or Cresta Ovest della Marmolada follow former military paths from World War I. Routes like the Via Ferrata de la Cascade in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes run alongside waterfalls and gorges. In the Salzkammergut and Grisons regions, routes such as Postalm and Schwarzhorn access summits and mountain lakes. The Spanish Voie Olmo near Alicante offers Mediterranean climbing sections in limestone cliffs. Technical sections with overhangs and traverses alternate with secured walking passages. Most via ferrata require climbing harnesses and appropriate equipment.
